Kenner's Universe

Five years ago is when this all began. Brian and I were married on May 3, 2003 in the Denver LDS Temple. We have lived in Colorado, Idaho, and we are currently in Utah. Brian enjoys his job as Dr. Death (Funeral Director) and I enjoy being a full time mom. Our first born son, Kenner, is 2 1/2 and Kameron just joined our family on February 21, 2008. Our love for each other, our children, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ make us keep going every day.

What's Next?

At about 6:45 this morning I woke up to Kenner crying. Brian was getting ready for work so I got up to get him. I opened his door and to my surprise and Daddy's surprise Kenner was standing by the door. That is right folks. Kenner has finally learned how to climb out of his crib. To prove it, we put him back in and watched him crawl right back out. Although, the way he goes about doing it will definitely lead to a broken arm or leg, so I took down the front part of the crib. During nap time, he fell asleep right away so there were no problems with him fighting to get out. I layed some pillows down beside the bed just in case. Well, the just in case occured. An hour after sleeping he had rolled out of bed and refused to go back to sleep. I took the entire crib down and now his bed is a mattress on the floor. I have never seen him so excited about his bed before. He thinks it is so cool.

The fun doesn't stop there. Right before bedtime, I had started working on the blog and in order to focus I closed the door. Well, much good that did because Kenner found out how to open the door. He's cribless and knows how to open the doors. Are we in for fun or what?

Little Terror

I normally put Kenner in the pack n play while I shower to keep him out of trouble. Well, about three weeks ago while I was showering, I discovered that Kenner can climb out of the pack n play. I heard a thump and little feet running every which way with giggling in the background. Knowing that I can't put him in the pack n play while I shower I had to think of something else. I remove the things that I know Kenner would get into and put them out of his reach, I close the door so he can't go anywhere else, and I bring in toys to distract him. I had brought my makeup bag to the wedding for typical touch ups and forgot to take it out of the canvas bag that was sitting on the floor. As odd as it is, Kenner loves to try to get in my make up. Last Saturday, on the 21st, I had gotten out of the shower and noticed how quiet it was in the bedroom. I opened the door and saw Kenner in red. Not because he was bleeding and definitely not because he's a Ute fan (yuck), but because he had found my oldest red lipstick and had a hay day with it. The night before I had said a prayer for patience because Kenner had really been pushing my buttons lately. My prayer must have been answered because instead of getting angry, I laughed and grabbed the camera.

After I got Kenner cleaned up he went for my sock drawer and began to truly model my socks for the camera. He's hilarious, what can I say?

What a Fox!

Kenner's Aunt Andrea recently got married. As the nephew, Kenner got to wear a tuxedo. I don't think we've taken that many pictures before only because he looked so darn cute. The pictures will say enough.

At the end of the wedding luncheon Kenner had an explosion of poop up and down his back. After we got him cleaned up and into just his sweater vest and sandles (quite the look) we headed to Walmart to get a cheap outfit to tie us over until the reception. Fortunately Kenner took a power nap in the car and until the reception. He was in a decent mood until picture time and then fine again after picture time (funny how that works). He thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate covered strawberries. Towards the end of the reception we changed him out of the tux and back into comfortable clothes. He also found his cousin's pink shoes fascinating and consistantly tried them on.

Fourth of July in Colorado

About a week after we got back from the Cook Family Reunion we headed to Colorado. We all had a good time. Grandma and Grandpa Lund were happy as could be to see Kenner. Kenner had a fun time with his aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. On July 3, the entire family headed up to Pikes Peak and rode the Cog Train. The view was beautiful and Kenner surprisingly did well for sitting so long on the way up and the way down.

Other than the trip to Pikes Peak we relaxed and enjoyed being together. Kenner loved to go swimming in Grandma's pool. He also played with Connor in the Elmo sprinkler. They had fun, but for some reason rocks around the house seemed more interesting to them. We celebrated the Fourth with a barbecue at the nearby park.

Zions National Park

After the Cook reunion we drove through Zions National Park on our way home. We took a tour of the park and saw some beautiful scenary. At one stop we hiked to Weeping Rock which was perfect for the hot day. Beautiful rocks that had 2,000 year old water (I think) dripping from them.

We also made a stop at a river and cooled off. It didn't take long before Kenner was wet from head to toe.

After the fun was done we headed back to our scalding hot cars and headed home. Kenner had been awake since 6:30, had zero naps, it was miserably hot, and we were hungry, so needless to say we expected Kenner to fall asleep instantly in the car on the way home after we stopped to eat. We were wrong. I'm not kidding when I say that he took two three minute naps in the car. We looked back at him and he was sound asleep. Three minutes later he was yacking away, laughing and having his foot in his mouth. He didn't fall asleep until shortly after 9:30 pm. What a day!
